Kaiyama transforms natural branches into elegant tableware — each piece reflects his dual discipline in sculpture and furniture design, embodying simplicity, balance, and honest craftsmanship. About the Artist – Ibuki Kaiyama (貝山 伊文紀)
Ibuki Kaiyama is a contemporary Japanese wood-worker and designer whose work elevates natural branches into refined objects of everyday use. Trained at the Graduate School of Design, Tokyo University of the Arts, he worked with HIDA Sangyo before founding his own studio in 2013. Kaiyama’s philosophy centers on preserving the raw beauty of wood — following the grain, honoring knots and irregularities, and crafting each piece by hand so that its unique character shines through. His designs balance functional form with organic texture and warmth, bringing a sense of calm and natural elegance to modern interiors.
