A classic stoneware katakuchi form reimagined through the hand-built sensibility of ceramic artist Yaku Murakami (村上曜), who has been producing sculptural ceramics since 1992. Crafted using slow, traditional construction methods, this vessel features a subdued ash-glaze surface reminiscent of mountain soils and smoke-firing. Its generous curve and soft spout make it a functional piece for pouring sake or sauces, while its quiet, earthy presence reflects Murakami’s lifelong pursuit of ceramics that convey touch, rhythm, and emotional resonance.
