About the Artist – Inosuke Kobayashi (小林伊之助)
Born in 1931, Inosuke Kobayashi was a mid-20th-century Japanese sōsaku kokeshi artist celebrated for his elegant, elongated forms and richly patterned kimono designs. Working during the creative kokeshi movement, Kobayashi approached each doll as a standalone art piece, combining minimalist faces with bold geometric motifs and refined colour palettes. His works are highly regarded by collectors for their craftsmanship, sculptural beauty, and distinctive artistic voice.
